Shooting in the rain

A warm night, thunder and lightning in the background (too bad it wasn't closer and more powerful), lots of rain and a nice program on the television. Perfect moment to change clothes, grab the camera and go outside! I really like shooting in such circumstances.

Open Your Eyes (working title) (1)

It all started with a picture. Call it a lucky shot, call it inspiration, call it whatever you want to call it. There's more behind the picture than I knew when I shot it. There's more behind the girl than we can see in the picture, though the picture itself gives away some clues.
This project will be about Rebecca, a girl who's currently blind but whose vision has been there till her 19th. She knows the colors, the forms and when you describe things well, she can actually see it. The idea behind the project is to open the eyes of the ones who need it. To inspire people who are open to it. To give hope to those who despair. The result of it will be available as a book, though I still don't know how big and what price it will be. Doesn't matter for now, the project has just begun. I will keep you informed about the progress.
More news will be updated on this blog!

this shot was taken at the Elf Fantasy Fair and was the beginning of it all. How to find a girl without having a name and just having this picture? Besides.. Would a blind girl have facebook? Email? Found her within 26 hours after this picture has been taken. Love the world we live in!

Old pictures renewed: Epica

date: June 27, 2008
location: Burgerweeshuis Deventer (NL)
band: Epica
gear: Nikon D40 + 18-55VR

One of the first times I've shot pictures at a concert with a D-SLR. Actually, it was about the first time using such a camera. Had those pictures shot in RAW (thanks for that) and saved all of them. I'm very glad I didn't throw those pictures away! As I did with the Alter Bridge pictures (see: link) , I've made a new selection and edited the pictures to see what pictures could still be used.

Bevrijdingsfestival Wageningen: The Astroids Galaxy Tour

The Astroids Galaxy Tour.. Takes a while to type it actually. In the Netherlands they're well known from their song "Golden Age" getting all the attention in a Heineken commercial. The music is catchy, happy, danceable and there is enough variety to prevent people from walking away before the show is over. Talented musicians switching instrument during the show and a doll behind the microphone. This Danish formation has the talent and quality to grow big.

Bevrijdingsfestival Wageningen: Miss Montreal

Miss Montreal at Bevrijdingsfestival Wageningen 2012. Early on the day and despite the typical dutch weather (it was raining cats and dogs) the Market Square was crowded. Warmed up by Memphis Maniacs and ready for more the fans waited. Sanne Hans, the real name of Miss Montreal, played with the crowd. She was the one who had hundreds of people turning around. Really enjoyed the show :)
